Wigan coach Shaun Wane is hoping to end a personal hoodoo when his side take on Leeds in the final match of the Super League's Magic Weekend.

The Rhinos twice dashed Wane's hopes of leading Wigan to silverware in 2012, beating them in the semi-finals of both the Challenge Cup and play-offs.

They reigning champions were also the last team to beat the league-leaders this season.

Wigan have since won 10 league and cup matches to strengthen their bid for the double but Wane is still troubled by their 18-14 loss at Headingley in March.

Bogey team

"Leeds were the best team," Wane said. "They've been a bit of a bogey team for me in the past two years.

"However, I was very satisfied that we pushed them close with seven players missing and it could have gone either way. Hopefully it will go my way this weekend."

Wigan were without England full-back Sam Tomkins that day, but he is set to play at the Etihad on Sunday, where he will be aiming to add to the 24 tries he has scored in his last 10 matches.

"He certainly is a big player," acknowledged Rhinos coach Brian McDermott. "I think Wigan are in far better shape as a team than the last time we played them."
