Salford have raided rugby union to sign Sale Sharks centre Jordan Davies.
The 23-year-old, who played rugby league as a teenager before joining Sale, has signed an 18-month contract.
Davies had two spells with the Sharks either side of a period in New Zealand and also enjoyed a successful loan at Leeds Carnegie.
Reds head coach Brian Noble said: "Jordan comes highly rated but we certainly don't want to heap pressure on him.
"He has played rugby league before when he was 16, a lot has changed since then so we will let him settle in to the way we do things.
"He will be having a look at us over the next 18 months as we are at him. He's an exciting prospect."
Player welfare manager Paul Highton said: "We are really looking forward to working with Jordan.
"He has bags of talent and this is a big career move for him. He knows the area, knows the stadium already and is chomping at the bit to get going."
