Martin Gleeson: New deal for Salford veteran
Martin Gleeson and Shannan McPherson have committed their future to the Salford City Reds by signing new contracts.
Gleeson looks set to finish his playing days with the Reds, having signed until the summer of 2015, the same extension given to Australian import McPherson.
"I am very happy at Salford and really feel this is the place to be because of what is likely to happen here in the next few years. The club has so much potential and I am enjoying my rugby," Gleeson said.
Both players were praised by chief executive Ed Farish, who also revealed that talks are ongoing to retain England Knights winger Jodie Broughton, recently linked with a move to local rivals St Helens.
"I am very happy at Salford and really feel this is the place to be because of what is likely to happen here in the next few years."
"Martin is the ultimate professional and we are delighted he has decided to extend his stay with us," said Farish.
"He is a quality player who looks after himself and he has been very impressive for us.
"He is a top player with a wealth of experience and this is a big boost for us. Martin has brought so much to the team with his experience. His performances this season have been very impressive."
"Shannan had a good reputation in Australia as a solid player. He is a good, honest forward and he is another very experienced player with a lot to offer us."
