Scott Dureau: Dragons scrum-half nearing playing return
Catalan Dragons scrum-half Scott Dureau has been cleared for a return to full training nearly four months after having a tumour removed from behind his eye.
The talented playmaker will be able to work with the rest of the Dragons squad without restrictions after consulting the neurological surgery department in Toulouse.
Dureau has been back in light work for more than a month but the news that he can step up his programme means the end of his recovery phase is in sight - he will undergo more tests in four weeks to decide when he can make a playing return.
The Australian was back at home over Christmas and the New Year when the diagnosis of a tumour was made - he had been suffering from blurred vision and headaches but thought he might only need to start wearing spectacles.
Dureau joined the club from NRL side Newcastle Knights and was named in the Super League Dream Team at the end of the 2011 and 2012 season, as well as playing for the Exiles against England in the mid-season internationals.
His return would provide them with a timely boost after a fine start to the season which sees them in fifth place in the Super League table after 12 games.
