Widnes utility forward Ben Davies has joined Championship 1 side South Wales Scorpions on a one-month loan deal.

The 23-year-old has made one substitute appearance this season for the Vikings and coach Denis Betts feels he will benefit from the game time the Scorpions can offer.

"Being too old to feature in the U19s competition, Ben found himself at a bit of a crossroads and with nowhere to play," said Betts.

Experience

"He's now in a position to get some games under his belt, and receive some quality coaching while he's there."

Davies, who came through the junior ranks at Wigan, could make his debut for the Scorpions against Rochdale Hornets on 28 April.

He is contracted to Widnes until the end of the 2013 Super League season and has made 42 appearances for the club overall, during which he has scored six tries.
