Gareth Ellis: Had been due to make his Hull debut against former employers Leeds on Friday night
Hull will send captain Gareth Ellis for a scan on the injury that prevented him from making his debut against former club Leeds.
The England international had been due to lead the Airlie Birds into battle at Headingley on Friday night in front of the Sky Sports cameras, only to limp out of the warm-up.
The second rower - who is back in Super League after four years in the NRL with Wests Tigers - was pulled out of the visiting team just before kick-off.
Richard Whiting replaced Ellis in the pack with Chris Green being promoted to the bench. Hull went on to lose the game 36-6 having been deadlocked with the reigning champions at six points apiece at the break.
"We'll just get him scanned and x-rayed and take it from there," Black and Whites coach Peter Gentle said after the away defeat.
"We could have probably needled it and risked him, but this early in the season there is no point doing that."
Ellis, appointed Hull captain for 2013, suffered a broken foot during an injury-plagued final season with Wests that saw him manage just 11 games.
