Wigan Warriors' close-season signing Blake Green cannot wait for the start of the new 2013 Stobart Super League campaign to get underway.
The 26-year-old is expected to form a partnership with ex-Salford and St Helens scrum-half Matt Smith, who joined the League Leaders' Shield winners last season, in the halves.
The pressure is on the pair to perform following the departures of Brett Finch and Tomas Leuluai, although that is not stopping Green looking ahead with confidence.
The former Canterbury Bulldogs and Cronulla Sharks half-back has been put through his paces after leaving Hull KR and is relishing the challenge of helping the club win silverware.
"I'm looking forward to the start of the season," Green told Sky Sports. "I'm looking to two months in when it starts to get a little warmer and dryer. The pre-season has been really good. I can't wait to kick off.
"The club has been really professional. I've been working hard. It's certainly the toughest pre-season I've had while I've been over here (England). It's very similar to what I experienced at home and I'm sure it's going to put us in good stead for the rest of the season.
"There's some special players in the team that have been a part of the club for a long time. They know what the culture is about. It's my job to play my role and fit in that culture and do the best we can to improve on the semi-finals last year.
Regarding the prospect of silverware, Green added: "You've got to have an element of confidence, otherwise you wouldn't be able to achieve anything in the game.
"We're confident we can do well. There's a lot of boxes we need to tick before we get there."
With Gareth Hock ever play for Wigan Warriors again?
