Tim Smith: was the club's player of the year in his first season with the Wildcats
Wakefield half-back Tim Smith has not sustained a broken leg but must wait to discover the extent of the injury he suffered against St Helens on Sunday.
The 28-year-old Australian left the field 15 minutes into the Jon Wilkin testimonial, which the Wildcats lost 42-12, and was taken to hospital for X-rays.
"There is no break but we are not yet sure of the extent of the injury," said a Wildcats spokesman.
Smith was the club's player of the year in his first season with them in 2012 from the Cronulla Sharks. He was rewarded with a new two-year contract.
Wakefield are already without Kyle Wood for their first Super League game against Bradford on 3 February.
The 23-year-old half-back underwent surgery for a detached retina following a freak training-ground accident.
