Tim Sheens has another year in charge of Australia
Tim Sheens will lead Australia into the 2013 rugby league World Cup after being reappointed as head coach of the Kangaroos.
The former Wests Tigers coach has had his contract extended by the Australian Rugby League Commission until after next year's tournament in Europe.
The 62-year-old, who has suffered just one defeat in the 18 Tests since he took charge of the national side in 2009, will also assist with the national high performance programme.
And Sheens is determined to wrestle back the World Cup trophy from New Zealand, who won the last tournament in 2008 to end a run of six titles for the Kangaroos.
"The Kangaroos have a proud history in the World Cup, winning nine of the 13 tournaments ever contested, so bringing the 2013 trophy home from the UK is my key focus," said Sheens.
"However, I am also very excited about the opportunity to have input into the national high performance programme and the pathways for our future Kangaroos."
