Huddersfield Giants have handed a two-year full-time contract to stand off or centre Jake Connor.

The 17-year-old, who enjoyed an impressive season with the academy, has already joined up with Paul Anderson's Super League squad for training.

"Jake is a naturally talented rugby league player with outstanding skills," Head of Youth Peter Riding told the club's official website.

"Whenever he has the ball things happen for him and the others around him. I am delighted that the club has been able to move him into the full-time group on a permanent basis after he had already spent time in that environment.

"Positionally, I am not sure yet where will be his best slot and we will no doubt try him at centre and six throughout the year in the U19s.

"But the big advantage he will now have will be his increased fitness, speed and strength all of which coupled with the more detailed in depth specific coaching that the full time contract will make him a very exciting player to have around."

Connor joins Nathan Mason and Peter Aspinall as first-year full-time professionals in the Giants Super League squad for the 2013 campaign.
