Wigan Warriors' Liam Farrell is looking forward to being part of England's squad after being called up by head coach Steve McNamara.
The 22-year-old second row received the news after Warrington Wolves' Ben Westwood was ruled out as he required another knee operation after featuring in the Grand Final.
Farrell had not been on stand-by and was not expecting to be involved, however, he now plans to take his chance with both hands with games against France and Wales on the horizon.
"I was surprised to get the call," he told the Wigan Observer. "I'm really looking forward to it.
"I wasn't on stand-by or anything - Steve just phoned me up and told me Ben Westwood had been ruled out and would I like to be involved."
Farrell made his England debut in their 32-20 defeat to the Exiles in July, a match in which McNamara fielded an experimental side.
