Wakefield Wildcats have appointed former player Ryan Hudson as their new youth development manager.

The 32-year-old hooker retired as a player at the end of the season with Castleford and will be returning to his home town club.

Hudson played 51 times for the Wildcats between 2000 and 2001.

"I am really excited about the future," said Hudson, who is a qualified personal trainer, sports nutritionist and clinical hypnotherapist.

"I am looking forward to helping the kids and working with the youth development to see them develop into full-time, first-team players which will be great."

Current Trinity ace Danny Kirmond tweeted: "Ryan Hudson is a great appointment, coached me when I was younger and his hunger and enthusiasm for the game will benefit the youth system."
