Mike Rush: Unsure if he will be seeing out the season in charge of St Helens

St Helens interim coach Mike Rush does not know if he will finish the season with the club in the wake of Nathan Brown's exit at Huddersfield.

Brown was due to takeover first-team affairs for the start of next season, however, the Giants' slump in form meant they parted company with the Australian early.

The ex-Huddersfield boss was confirmed as St Helens' new coach in April following Royce Simmons' sacking the month before.

The 38-year-old is now free to take control at Langtree Park and Rush is waiting to hear from chairman Eamonn McManus if the club alter their schedule.

Rush, though, is focusing all his efforts trying to guide the club to this year's Grand Final in Manchester, unless he hears otherwise from McManus.

Decision

"It's for the chairman to decide. Until then, the season carries on. There's a Grand Final on 6 October and we work towards getting into that," he said.

"He needs a long chat with Nathan because Nathan might want a couple of weeks to rest. I'm sure it's a very hard and emotional time leaving somewhere.

"Eamonn and Nathan need to get their heads together and then no doubt they'll tell me."
