Anthony Gelling: Insists Wigan cannot take the Leeds Rhinos lightly on Saturday
Wigan Warriors ace Anthony Gelling insists the Stobart Super League leaders cannot take anything for granted in their Carnegie Challenge Cup semi-final against the Leeds Rhinos.
Shaun Wane's troops have Leeds' number this season after following up their 20-6 win over the champions at the DW Stadium with a resounding 50-8 success at Headingley Carnegie in June.
Wigan also toppled Brian McDermott's men to claim last year's Challenge Cup trophy, although Gelling knows their rivals from Yorkshire still have the talent to cause an upset.
"We know we can't take anything for granted because they've shown in recent years that they're a quality side."
Gelling on the Rhinos Quotes of the week
Gelling joined Wigan following their Wembley triumph and the New Zealand-born three-quarter would love to reach the final and experience the big-game atmosphere for himself.
Cautious
"We've had some good results against Leeds this season and hopefully we can get another one this weekend," he told the club's official website.
"But we know we can't take anything for granted because they've shown in recent years that they're a quality side.
"It would be great to get through to the final as the guys have all told me about last year's game and I'd like to experience if for myself.
"We'll be fully focused on this game as the approach to a Challenge Cup game is very different to Super League because there are no second chances and you have to be at the very top of your game on the day.
"The feel at training and the preparation is different when you know your next game is a Challenge Cup tie.
"Everyone is that bit more energised and excited and I think that shows in the matches and hopefully we can get the result we want."
