Black and Whites boss happy to land experienced full-back

Hull FC coach Peter Gentle believes Ryan McGoldrick will be a good signing for the club after making his debut in Friday's 21-6 defeat at Leeds. The 31-year-old joined the Black and Whites on a short-term deal following a seven-and-a-half year spell with the Castleford Tigers. McGoldrick featured at full-back in the loss at Headingley Carnegie, but Gentle believes his experience will be invaluable to the club's youngsters. The United States international only met his new team-mates on the coach to Leeds, although Hull FC's boss had no qualms about giving him an immediate taste of the action.

Experience

"This will be a big week for him training with the boys," Gentle told the Hull Daily Mail. "Straight after the Leeds game, he was in the dressing room talking to the boys and giving his thoughts on what we can do. "He's got lots of experience. We have plenty of youngsters in our side and you need some old heads sprinkled throughout the team. "Ryan has been around the park a few times and I was very confident in playing him and putting him straight out there. "We watched some videos and went through our plays, but he's very smart so I knew he'd be fine. He'll be a very handy acquisition for us for the rest of the year."
