Rhinos include injured duo

Leeds have named centres Kallum Watkins and Carl Ablett in their 19-man squad for the Carnegie Challenge Cup final.

Leeds looking to erase memory of last year's final disappointment

Injured duo Kallum Watkins and Carl Ablett have both been included in Leeds' 19-man squad for the Carnegie Challenge Cup final against Wigan. The centre pairing will be given until the last possible moment to prove their fitness for the showpiece event at Wembley on Saturday. Watkins is still rated at only 50-50 to recover from a knee injury he picked up in last Saturday's 32-22 defeat at Harlequins, though it is hoped Ablett will shake off an ankle problem in time to to play. As expected, forwards Jamie Jones-Buchanan, Ryan Bailey and Jamie Peacock all return after sitting out the game at the Twickenham Stoop. The Rhinos set off the capital on Thursday looking to bounce back from their disappointing defeat to Quins, with stand-off Danny McGuire insisting they are fully focused on the task in hand.

Bouncing

"We've tried to push that to one side, to be honest, because for the previous six weeks we had started to find some form in defence and with the ball in hand we were getting a little bit better," he said. "We didn't turn up on the day against Quins but we're now focused on Wigan and we've got a few players coming back who will strengthen the team. "We've come into training this week bouncing. We're looking forward to it. Wigan are playing really well. It's another big challenge for us." Leeds made it to the final last year but endured a nightmare afternoon against Warrington, losing 30-6. "We were really disappointed with how we performed on the day last year," McGuire added. "We felt we let ourselves down. "Looking back, we probably played our final in the semi-final or the quarter-final where we beat Wigan and Saints. Both those games took quite a bit out of us. "Most of the squad are still together from last year and obviously we want to play a lot better and perform to the standards we are capable of. "We'll definitely do things differently in our preparation. We know what to expect. We know what's around the corner so we'll be a lot more prepared for it."
