Struggling Harlequins have signed winger Kevin Penny on a one-month loan deal from Super League rivals Warrington.

Winger in line to make his debut against St Helens on Saturday

Harlequins have taken winger Kevin Penny on loan from Super League rivals Warrington. The 22-year-old moves to the Twickenham Stoop on a one-month deal and could make his debut against St Helens this weekend. Penny burst onto the scene back in 2007 with 15 tries in as many games. He was named in the Super League Dream Team at the end of that season. However his first-team chances have been limited in recent times and he spent a spell last year out on loan at Championship side Widnes.

Good deal

"We have not managed to replace Jon Wells yet and we have far too little competition among our outside backs so this is a good deal for us," Quins coach Brian McDermott said. "Kevin has some real out and out speed. While that is not the only category you need to fill to be a good winger, it will certainly give an added threat to our attacking options which we need at the moment." Penny, who has scored six tries in five appearances for the Wolves' Under 20 side in 2010, joins a club who are currently propping up the rest in the engage Super League with just one win to their name.
