Wigan edged out Warrington 20-12 in the Paul Wood testimonial match at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
A late try from Harrison Hansen clinched a hard-fought victory for the Warriors, who had at one stage led 14-6 in the pre-season fixture.
With the new season fast approaching, Wolves boss Tony Smith and opposite number Michael Maguire both opted to field strong line-ups.
The hosts started new recruits Ryan Atkins and Richie Myler, with their third signing, David Solomona, amongst the replacements. Meanwhile, the Cherry and Whites gave a debut to new recruit Paul Deacon as a second-half sub.
Warrington took the lead after just four minutes when England international Adrian Morley burst over from close range, Lee Briers adding the extras.
However Wigan hit back to take control, former Warrington centre Martin Gleeson getting on the end of a grubber to score, before Sam Tomkins fed winger Amos Roberts to dive over in the corner.
Sean O'Loughlin, who had put in the kick to set up Gleeson in the opening 40 minutes, was also the creator for the visitors' third, scored by Lee Mossop.
Roberts added the conversion to make it 14-6 - only for Warrington to set up a grandstand finish with Chris Riley's try 13 minutes from full time.
Briers' goal cut the gap to two points but the Warriors had the last word, the influential Tomkins sending in Hansen for a score that Richards converted.
