New Warriors coach scraps skipper role

New Wigan coach Michael Maguire will defy tradition by appointing a leadership team in place of a customary single captain. Loose forward Sean O'Loughlin has stepped down from the skipper's post but will make up part of the leadership team who will take turns at the helm of the side in 2010. Former Melbourne assistant coach Maguire, who is the successor to Brian Noble at the DW Stadium, is pleased with the way in which his squad have embraced the new idea. "The players have reacted extremely well when working in a team, therefore it made sense to create a leadership team who can continue our togetherness," said Maguire. "Sean O'Loughlin and I have discussed this idea and he has impressed me with his receptiveness to the concept."
