Forward leaves St Helens due to injury

Jason Cayless is to leave St Helens and return to Australia after failing to overcome a shoulder injury. The 29-year-old former New Zealand international forward sustained the injury as a victim of a "chicken-wing" tackle in April and has not been fit to play since the incident. Cayless, who is out of contract at the end of the season, made 83 appearances during his time at Saints. The former Sydney Roosters prop was a member of their Challenge-cup winning teams in 2006 and 2007 and was a Grand Final winner in 2006. "I would like to wish Jason Cayless every success and every luck in his life back in Australia," said St Helens chairman Eamonn McManus. "It has been a tragedy for him and a disappointment for us that injury has blighted his last two seasons at the club."
