Warrington Wolves centre Martin Gleeson is believed to be keen on a move Down Under.

Former Saints star Lyon lined-up as possible replacement

Warrington Wolves centre Martin Gleeson is believed to be keen on a move to Australia's NRL. The Australian reports that the Great Britain international has contacted Melbourne Storm and Brisbane Broncos to sound out their interest. "We heard he would like to play in Australia at some stage of his career," Melbourne recruitment manager Frank Ponissi told the newspaper. "We have heard that in the past from other players. Sometimes it comes off, as with Gareth Ellis (who will join Wests Tigers next season). We'll see what happens." Should Gleeson depart, it could open the way for Warrington to bring Jamie Lyon back to Super League as his replacement. The 26-year-old enjoyed a successful two-year spell with St Helens, culminating in the 2006 Man of Steel award. Reports in Australia suggest the ambitious Wolves, who caused a stir a year ago with the capture of Australian Test centre Matt King, are set to launch a daring bid for Lyon, who currently plays in the NRL for Manly Sea Eagles.
