Wakefield players Richard Moore and Ryan Atkins are hoping good performances against Hull KR will be enough to earn call-ups to England's squad against France next week.

Prop forward Moore could earn his first full England cap after putting in consistent performances for the Wildcats this term.

After only missing one game as Wakefield push for a play-off place, he is again set to feature against Hull KR at New Craven Park on Saturday, in a game being shown live on Sky Sports 1.

His current excellence is a welcome return to form for a player who burst onto the scene with Bradford six years ago before going on to play for England 'A' against the 2002 touring New Zealanders.

Decline

But his career subsequently went into decline before Wakefield coach John Kear signed him from part-time rugby at Leigh two years ago.

Since then, the 26-year-old has proved his worth and was chosen in Tony Smith's initial Great Britain squad for the Test series against the Kiwis.

Despite not making the cut then, he has continued to impress this term and could earn a place in Smith's 19-man squad to face the French in Toulouse on Friday 27 June.

"He's been playing great this season and I'm delighted he isn't a one-season wonder," said Kear.

Consistent form

"He's backing it up with some consistent form again. I'm really pleased with what Richard is doing."

Atkins is also hoping to catch the eye of the selectors in Saturday's game, if he gets the nod to partner the evergreen Keith Senior in the centre spots.

Kear added: "Tony has been down to the club to watch training and spoke to one or two of the players so we have got players under consideration.

"I promised it would be kept confidential but I think it's easy to work out."
