O'Loughlin looking to end club's five-year trophy drought

Wigan captain Sean O'Loughlin expects the Warriors to be challenging for silverware this season. The loose-forward has been impressed by coach Brian Noble's recruitment drive this winter and expects them to build on an impressive end to Super League XII. Wigan have signed former Leeds full-back Richie Mathers, Samoa centre George Carmont and former Bradford back Karl Pryce in the close season and O'Loughlin believes the club is on the brink of something special. "There is a tremendous anticipation surrounding the club and I think it could be the start of a very exciting era," O'Loughlin told Wigan's official website. "We made tremendous strides under Brian Noble last season and there is a lot to look forward to. "Brian fostered a tremendous spirit in the camp and all of sudden there is a real strength in depth look to the squad. "There is no reason why we can't make a really big impression next season and try to win some silverware." The Warriors take on Warrington Wolves in pre-season on Sunday meanwhile, as they step up preparations towards their February opener against Harlequins.
