Wakefield coach James Webster is expecting an improved performance from his players against St Helens on Friday after putting them through a video nasty this week.

The Wildcats won their first two games of the Super League season before crashing to a humiliating 58-16 defeat at Widnes on Sunday.

They now host unbeaten leaders Saints at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium and Webster does not want a repeat of their display against the Vikings.

"We had to watch it, we had to see where we went wrong and it wasn't nice looking at it, but the boys acknowledged they were way off the mark and we understand we need to be a thousand times better against one of the better teams in the competition," Webster said.

"It was hard to swallow. We're proud people and we were embarrassed but everything we've said and done this week has been about fixing the problems to enable us not just to compete, but to win this game.

"I'm sure we will see a more committed and better team on Friday night."

Physical battle

Saints are without prop Kyle Amor and stand-off Travis Burns after they picked up suspensions this week but Webster is still anticipating a tough physical battle with the reigning champions.

More from Super League 2015, Round Four

"It's always good to get teams that are not at full whack but, saying that, we played them last year with no half-backs and they were just too big and powerful for us," he said.

"They play four middles on the bench, they don't change their hooker or their back rowers so they've 10 subs to use on their middles and they're tough to defend against. We don't have that luxury. Our ability to complete physically with St Helens will be the key to whether or not we can win the game."
