Halifax made the most of their experience as they sauntered to a 46-16 win over a youthful Hull KR side in Jason Netherton's testimonial.

The visitors stormed into a 10-0 lead thanks to tries from Tommy Saxton and Ben Heaton, but Rovers rallied and tied things up at 16-16 by half-time with Kris Welham and Kieran Dixon, on his Rovers debut, among the scorers.

However, the second half was all Halifax as they ran in 30 unanswered points; Steve Tyrer, Miles Greenwood, Luke Ambler (2) and Chris Taylor going over for converted tries.

Bradford Bulls were also in testimonial action and they were beaten 22-14 by Castleford in a game celebrating Andy Lynch's years with the Tigers.

The Bulls led 14-6 at half-time with Jake Mullaney the star as he delivered tries for Jay Pitts, Ryan Shaw and Adrian Purtell.

But the Tigers, who got a try from Justin Carney in the first half, were by far the stronger side after the break and tries from Ashley Gibson and Scott Moore put them in front - former Bull Luke Gale converted all three scores.

Mike McMeeken's late score sealed victory for Daryl Powell's men.

And the Salford Red Devils also tasted defeat in their first hit-out as they were beaten 28-12 by the Dewsbury Rams in a testimonial for winger Austin Buchanan.

The Rams stormed into an 18-0 lead at half-time, and had three more tries ruled out, and when Karl Pryce made it 24-0 it appeared the Red Devils were heading for pre-season embarrassment.

Coach Iestyn Harris had to wait 51 minutes for Salford's first try, which came from Carl Forster, and Brad England added a second soon after but they had Adam Walne sent off to end any hopes of a comeback.

And Jordan Sammut scored twice as Wakefield beat Featherstone 34-20. Tom Johnstone, Matt Ryan, Craig Hall and Danny Kirmond also crossed the whitewash at Belle Vue Stadium.
