Catalans Dragons have given American Football player Brent Calloway the chance to impress during a week-long trial.
Calloway will train with the Dragons reserve team and look to redeem himself after running into trouble during his time at college in America.
The 22-year-old running back was dismissed from the Alabama University team after being arrested and charged with one count of fraudulent use of a credit card in February of last year.
But Dragons CEO Christophe Jouffret says he is excited about the prospect of working with Calloway and the club will make a decision on him after a series of physical and technical tests.
He said: “It’s interesting to work with him and to give him the opportunity to show his qualities.
“It’s interesting to gauge the capacity to adapt to the Rugby League for an athlete coming from another sport.”
