Hull KR have made their ninth signing ahead of the 2015 campaign with the arrival of French international hooker John Boudebza at the KC Lightstream Stadium.

The 24-year-old, who was recently named in the France squad for the European Championship, has penned a one-year deal with the Robins and leaves Elite One Championship side FC Lezignan to move into Super League.

Speaking to Hull KR’s official website, Boudebza said: “Moving to the Super League is a new challenge for me and I’m looking forward to coming over there.

“An opportunity was offered to me at Rovers and after talking with Kevin Larroyer I realised how big a chance it was.

I’m very excited and proud to be a Robin and I’m looking forward to my first training session, my first game and my first derby.

Stand out

Boudebza was one of the stand-out performers in the French league last year and Robins head coach Chris Chester is delighted to have the Catalans Dragons academy graduate on board.

“John has impressed in the competition over in France and from what I’ve seen of him I’m positive he can adapt to playing in Super League,” Chester claimed.

“He is a talented young kid who we’ve been monitoring for a number of weeks now. He knows it will be a big challenge and that he will have to earn a chance to play in the side but he has backed himself by coming over here.

“If he works hard in pre-season, he will get an opportunity to show what he can do just like everybody else and it will be up to him to take it.”

Boudebza will join the rest of the Hull KR squad for the start of pre-season training in November.
