Gareth Hock: The Widnes forward has scored seven in his last five games
There has been a lot of interest in Salford this week after they announced their new squad for next season, however I'm predicting Widnes to spoil the party on Friday.
With all the activity off the field, Salford have continued to struggle on it, winning just twice in their last 10 games, whereas Widnes have won the last three games - their best run of the 2013 campaign.
The City Reds - soon to be Red Devils - have lost both halves in 17 of their 26 games this season and considering Widnes were winning at half-time last week, the omens bode well.
Denis Betts' men may have lost the last meeting between these two - at the Magic Weekend in May - but that was without star man Gareth Hock and top try scoring winger Patrick Ah Van.
Prior to that loss, Widnes hammered the City Reds 58-24 in Round 11 with a full-strength side and, after beating Warrington and Hull KR in the last two rounds, they will be full of confidence.
Hock will be making his final appearance for the club before heading to this week's opposition at the end of the year and he's a nice 9/4 to score a try anytime against his future employers.
The powerful second-row has scored nine tries in 16 appearances this year - including seven in his last five appearances - and will be out to impress Dr Koukash watching from the stands.
Daniel Holdsworth: Backed to help Hull FC upset the odds against St Helens
On the up
Hull FC are also the outsiders on Friday night as they welcome St Helens to the KC Stadium.
Surprisingly, this fixture has ended in a draw in three of the last five meetings between the two, including a 22-all draw back in February.
Peter Gentle's men have won their last four Super League games and, with the Challenge Cup now firmly behind them, expect them to upset the odds tonight.
In last season's two meetings between the two, the Black and Whites were unbeaten with a draw and a win under their belts and with Aaron Heremaia back in the side, they will stand a good chance tonight.
