Rhinos relieved over Smith

Leeds will have winger Lee Smith available for Saturday's Grand Final after he avoided a suspension for recklessly striking out.

Leeds expected to be unchanged for rematch with Saints

Leeds have been given a major boost ahead of Saturday's Super League Grand Final with the news that Lee Smith has been cleared to play. The winger was placed on report for kicking Wigan second-rower Phil Bailey in the face during the 18-14 play-off victory last Friday. A suspension of up to four games was a possible punishment for the 22-year-old who scored two tries against the Warriors. However Smith escaped a ban, despite being found guilty at a Rugby Football League disciplinary hearing of recklessly striking out.

Fine

Instead he was hit with a £300 fine, meaning he will be free to play for the Rhinos this weekend against St Helens at Old Trafford. Coach Brian McClennan is now likely to name an unchanged team for the season finale as Leeds look to retain the title they won against the same opponents 12 months ago. Nick Scruton, who missed out on last year's game through injury, will be the only alteration from the side that won 33-6 in 2007. The prop will be making his final appearance for the club before he leaves to join rivals Bradford Bulls next year.
