Huddersfield brought Castleford back down to earth with a bang as they powered to a 22-0 victory at the John Smith's Stadium.
Giants half-back Jamie Ellis was the hero against his former side as he grabbed the only try of an error-strewn first-half to put Huddersfield on their way to a convincing success.
Ukuma Ta'ai, Aaron Murphy and the excellent Jermaine McGillvary all touched down in the second half to secure back-to-back Super League victories, with the Tigers a shadow of the side that humiliated Wigan in round four.
An eminently forgettable match will best be remembered for the wing duel between Castleford's 'Tank on the Flank' Justin Carney and the tigerish McGillvary.
Carney managed to send Huddersfield's towering prop Eorl Crabtree flying with one of his devastating trademark hand-offs but he could not get the better of his diminutive opposite number, who was named the Giants' man of the match.
Ellis was one of the worst culprits of a dire first half but he made amends two minutes before the break when he slipped the attempted tackle of Oliver Holmes to score the first try, which Brough goaled.
The game was still evenly balanced at the break but the second half was only three minutes old when the home side increased their lead through Ta'ai, who charged onto Brough’s short pass and through some powderpuff tackles.
Brough's second goal made it 12-0 but he was wide with a drop-goal attempt from in front of the posts midway through the second half which would have made the game safe.
However, the Giants clinched victory on 62 minutes when Brough re-gathered a loose ball from Grix and got winger Murphy over for their third try.
Brough increased his side's lead with a penalty before Huddersfield created an overlap to get McGillvary over for a deserved try.
