Tetley's Challenge Cup: Salford Red Devils v Widnes Vikings preview
Last Updated: 25/04/14 5:36pm
Salford could hand a debut to new recruit Greg Eden in Sunday's Tetley's Challenge Cup tie against Widnes at the AJ Bell Stadium.
Full-back Eden only joined the Red Devils on Friday on a one-month loan deal from Hull KR, but has been included immediately in Iestyn Harris' 19-man squad for the fifth round tie.
The hosts head into the match off the back of a disappointing Easter weekend that saw them suffer league defeats at the hands of both Huddersfield and Leeds.
They actually only trailed the Rhinos 6-4 on Monday, but conceded 26 points without reply in the second half at Headingley to slip to a heavy defeat on Harris' return to one of his former employers.
The head coach has now tasted victory in just one of his three matches since leaving his role as assistant to Shaun Wane at Wigan to take the top job at Salford.
Martin Gleeson, Harrison Hansen and Tony Puletua all return to the home side's 19-man squad, while Logan Tomkins is free to play after joining on loan from Wigan for the rest of the season.
While the hosts are struggling a little for form, Widnes - who saw off Halifax in the previous round of the competition - make the short trip off the back of a stunning 40-26 triumph over St Helens on Easter Monday.
It was the perfect response following their Good Friday mauling at the hands of local rivals Warrington and leaves them sitting in fifth place in the table, well within the play-off places.
Coach Denis Betts singled out Macgraff Leuluai and Grant Gore for special praise after the success over Saints and both men are retained in a 19-man squad that also includes Paul Clough, the on-loan forward free to play again after being unable to face his parent club last time out.
The match will see Widnes come up against Gareth Hock, who spent last season on loan with the Vikings.
