Super League: Salford Red Devils v Huddersfield Giants preview
Last Updated: 17/04/14 10:57am
Iestyn Harris takes charge of Salford Red Devils for the first time at home against Huddersfield Giants following a win away at Bradford Bulls last week.
Harris replaced Brian Noble at the helm and the pressure is firmly on to ensure Marwan Koukash's ambitious club reach the Super League play-offs this season.
The Red Devils come into the game on the back of a fine 38-24 win over the Bulls while the Giants suffered a 30-6 defeat to Hull FC last time out.
Salford are set to welcome back former Huddersfield prop Darrell Griffin for his 300th career appearance after missing the last seven matches with a knee injury. That is likely to be the only change to the team that won at Odsal last week.
Huddersfield are boosted by the return of forward Larne Patrick and England centre Leroy Cudjoe from injury while prop Anthony Mullally makes his first appearance of the season after being recalled from his loan spell at Bradford.
Kyle Wood is set to take over at scrum-half from the absent Luke Robinson, with Aaron Murphy switching to the wing in place of Jodie Broughton.
Giants centre Joe Wardle insists the Red Devils have numerous players to watch in Friday's Super League showdown at the AJ Bell Stadium.
"As well as Rangi Chase, I think Tim Smith is a big player for them. He played at Wakefield beforehand and with his kicking game he's another player we've got to watch out for," he told the club's official website.
"Tommy Lee as well out of dummy half, who has been here before and was a great player and good friend, is playing well.
"He's been going well for them and getting them on the front foot so if we deal with a lot of those threats I think we'll go well and it should be a good game."
Salford Red Devils: Gleeson, Chase, Lee, Tasi, Hock, Smith, Morley, Mullaney, Johnson, Sa'u, Meli, J. Walne, Griffin, Hansen, Tomkins, Fages, Ashurst, Puletua, McPherson.
Huddersfield Giants: Grix, McGillvary, Cudjoe, Wardle, Murphy, Brough, Crabtree, Lunt, Kopczak, Chan, Bailey, Lawrence, Patrick, Ta'ai, Wood, Kaufusi, Mullally, Johnson, Connor.
