Super League: St Helens v Salford Red Devils preview
Last Updated: 29/05/14 5:05pm
Second-placed St Helens host Salford Red Devils at Langtree Park on Friday knowing a win could put them back on top of the First Utility Super League.
Nathan Brown's side go into the game sitting just a point behind leaders Leeds Rhinos, who face a tricky trip to Warrington Wolves also on Friday.
Saints have announced an unchanged squad from the one which beat Huddersfield 41-22 last time and Brown is demanding no let-up from his charges.
He told the club's official website: "The mood in the camp is good after a good result and a good effort.
"Last week was different of course but we had a good positive week in the lead up to the game, won, and now we are looking to move forward.
"It isn't always about the result; the performance matters and we got the physical part of the game right last Friday.
"When you play the sides that are winning trophies then they tend to win the advantage line and it was important we did that part of the game right.
"To get that part right sometimes you have to sit down and review what you are doing. This team has developed a fair bit and our position on the ladder shows that.
"Jon Wilkin is back where he should be and has been one of our top performers this year - one of our most influential players - if not in the whole comp too.
"Luke Walsh has had the desired effect with his game management, control and kicking game. Jonny Lomax's form at full-back has been good and James Roby is doing what we expected him to."
Brown is not under-estimating the threat posed by Salford, owned by Marwan Koukash, for whom Iestyn Harris took over as head coach from Brian Noble.
Brown added: "Building a team from scratch is hard but I'm sure if Marwan stays in the game for a fair period of time he will get his reward.
"They had a coach who coached them to play one play and then a new one has come in and wants them to play differently. That takes time but they have talented players and will win one soon enough.
"We will need to do what we did last week and do better in some areas to get a result."
Harris has included available again Greg Johnson and Jordan Walne in his squad, while it is sure to prove an emotional return to Langtree Park for Francis Meli and Tony Puletua, who visit for the first time since switching to the Red Devils from the Saints at the end of last season.
St Helens: Makinson, Turner, Hohaia, Walsh, Masoe, Roby, McCarthy-Scarsbrook, Soliola, Wilkin, Flanagan, Wellens, Greenwood, Wheeler, Walker, Dawson, Richards, Thompson, Hand, Tilley.
Salford Red Devils: Ashurst, Chase, Dixon, Griffin, Hock, Johnson, Lee, Meli, Morley, Eden, Puletua, Rapira, Sa'u, Smith, Tasi, Tomkins, J. Walne, Evalds, Williams.
