Super League preview: Catalan Dragons v Huddersfield Giants
Last Updated: 22/03/14 12:37pm
Catalan Dragons go in search of their first win of the season this weekend when Huddersfield Giants visit the Gilbert Brutus Stadium on Saturday.
The Dragons have made the play-offs in recent seasons, but Laurent Frayssinous' men are winless from their opening five matches.
The Giants moved into the top four after disposing of the lowly Bradford Bulls on Sunday with a resounding 66-18 success at Odsal.
Frayssinous does have some squad relief this week with the news that Daryl Millard, Ben Pomeroy and Antoni Maria are available while Olivier Elima and Louis Anderson are back after bans.
However, they remain with a lengthy list of absentees. Vincent Duport, Scott Dureau, Damien Cardace, Ian Henderson and Brent Webb are all sidelined while Jeff Lima and Julian Bousquet are banned.
Huddersfield head coach Paul Anderson has been forced into making a change for Saturday's trip to Perpignan.
Michael Lawrence - who was handed a one-match ban by the disciplinary panel earlier this week - has been forced to miss the trip for a dangerous tackle during their win over the Bulls.
Youngster Josh Johnson makes the step up into Anderson's squad for the trip as they look to make it back-to-back wins for the first time this season and the Giants boss says Catalan need to address work on their discipline.
"They need to take a pretty close look at their discipline," Anderson told the Huddersfield Dailey Examiner. "If they do that, then I'm sure they'll prove to be a competitive team once again.
"So I think the best thing Laurent can do at the moment is stay patient. As I said, once he starts to get his players back, they'll prove to be a very formidable side, and one that can mount a very strong challenge."
Catalan Dragons: Escare, Pryce, Pomeroy, Oldfield, Bosc, Elima, Taia, Anderson, Mounis, Maria, Pelissier, Whitehead, Millard, Pala, Simon, Paea, Baitieri, Baile, Garcia.
Huddersfield Giants: Grix, McGillvary, Cudjoe, Wardle, Murphy, Brough, Robinson, Crabtree, Kopczak, Ferres, Chan, Bailey, Faiumu, Ta'ai, Wood, Broughton, Kaufusi, Fairbank, Johnson.
