There is little to play for with neither club able to make the play-offs so both coaches will have an eye on planning for next year.
The Tigers are 12th in the table with 18 points from their 25 games while the struggling City Reds are second-from-bottom with 11 points.
Castleford have improved under new head coach Daryl Powell and he could hand a debut to youngster Ben Reynolds this weekend.
The versatile back, who signed a two-year contract earlier this month, is in the Tigers' 19-man squad for the first time while Richard Owen misses out.
Tigers playmaker Rangi Chase is expected to play despite handing in a transfer request. Ironically the England international is set to line up against the club he is being tipped to join next term.
No talks
"I would think Rangi Chase will play. I don't see any reason why not," Powell told the Pontefract and Castleford Express. "The transfer request is not something I have spoken to Rangi about.
"He didn't train the other day, he had a bit of illness, but he should be okay and will play as far as I'm concerned."
Salford continued their strengthening for next season with the addition of Steve Rapira while centre Ashley Gibson is set to line up against Castleford, the club he is joining in 2014.
Lee Gaskell has also been named in Salford's squad although the loanee from St Helens will not be a Red Devil next season he has signed a two-year contract with the Bradford Bulls.
Head coach Brian Noble is boosted by the return of leading tryscorer Jodie Broughton, who has missed the last three matches through injury.
