Hull are without Kirk Yeaman and Mark O'Meley for Sunday's showdown with Widnes at the KC Stadium.
Centre Yeaman underwent surgery last weekend to repair ligament damage in his right foot - he was already set for a spell on the sidelines anyway, having injured his wrist in the win over St Helens.
There was a further blow in the aftermath of the 22-10 triumph at Langtree Park when prop O'Meley was charged with dangerous play.
The Australian submitted an early guilty plea and accepted a one-match ban, ruling him out of the home fixture against the Vikings.
Coach Peter Gentle is set to hand Jordan Turner his first start of the season in place of Yeaman, with prop Josh Bowden likely to come into the pack.
However, youngsters Liam Kent and Ben Crooks, who have yet to make their Super League debuts, could also feature for the first time after being named in the 19-man squad.
The Black and Whites will be looking to make it three wins in a row but Gentle, who is in his first season in charge, is refusing to get too carried away.
Disciplined
"At this stage of the year, you've got to get your own house in order before worrying what everybody else is doing," he told the club's official website.
"If we get our defensive systems working, it doesn't matter who we are up against as we can shut most things down.
"To get our attacking working, we've probably got to be a little more disciplined with what we are doing, but I'm really happy with how we are going at the moment."
Widnes, meanwhile, make the trip across the Pennines looking to follow up their first victory of the season.
Denis Betts' side stunned the Super League world last Sunday when they overturned Wigan 37-36 at the Stobart Stadium, denying their opponents the chance to take over at the top of the table.
They have, however, lost all of their four previous trips to the KC.
The visitors could welcome back Scott Moore, the hooker having recovered from a broken jaw and completing a one-match ban for a breach of club discipline
The Vikings have this week suspended Kurt Haggerty for a breach of rules, the second rower becoming the fourth player to be punished by the club, while goalkicking winger Patrick Ah Van remains sidelined through injury.
