Verdict

Jim McGrath: "I rang Richard [Fahey] this morning as I actually wanted to take him out of the race because of the going. This victory is totally down to the trainer and Robin [O'Ryan] as they persuaded me to run him as they didn't think the ground was as bad as everyone thought. He has had a lot of problems and Robin, Richard and a lad called John Murphy, who rides him out a lot at home, have all done a great job with him. He had nearly a year off with one leg injury and then we took him to Dubai and he came back with another one. Then he had a quarter-crack which kept him out for three months this season. Sometimes racing is a very frustrating game but you wouldn't have thought that a horse rated 100 would have to wait two and a half years to win a race. He'll most likely to head to Ayr now and he should get in the Silver Cup. I'm going to leave that particular decision to Richard and Robin though as if it were up to me, he wouldn't have been in the race today."
