Verdict

A Group 1 race run at a good pace from flagfall and a very impressive victory for FALLEN FOR YOU, who delivered in style for an in-form trainer and jockey combination. William Buick dropped her in at the rear of the field from her wide draw and he still had all of the field bar Cardigan to pass as the field turned for home. He clearly felt there was plenty of horse underneath him as he was happy to forsake some ground and make his challenge down the outer. Once she found top gear two furlongs from home she simply shot clear with a lovely turn of foot and scored as she pleased. The daughter of Dansili has always been held in some regard by connections and was favourite to win her last start in Group 3 company but this was clearly a career best and there should be more to come. Starscope provided a 1-2 for the yard and showed much more like her best ability having got in a stew before her previous outing at Newbury. She had nowhere near the instant finishing kick of her stablemate and a return to 10 furlongs should be on the cards sooner rather than later. Irish History kept on gamely enough and this suggests she will be competitive at a slightly lower level - a mile on easy ground seems to be her conditions. Irish 1000 Guineas heroine Samitar proved best of the two Mick Channon-trained fillies in the race and she just managed to hang on for fourth from Bugie d'Amore. The former travelled really well up to the quarter-mile pole and it was a little disappointing she did not find more once switched off the inside rail to challenge. Channon's other filly Laugh Out Loud likes to get on with things and perhaps did too much early on while Homecoming Queen's demolition job in the QIPCO 1000 Guineas may have taken more out of her than expected as she has regressed in two runs since. The once-raced Cardigan had been the subject of some support in the betting in the lead up to the race but she never managed to get out of last place and was eased right down. She obviously has shown something at home and an easier assignment will be on the cards for sure next time.
