A tremendous finish to the week's Blue Riband contest as COLOUR VISION stuck his head out gamely in the final yards to deny fellow Godolphin raider Opinion Poll. The former is the new kid on the block in the staying division at just four-years-old but Frankie Dettori rightly felt the younger, fresher legs could be the difference, which helped make up his mind to desert old ally Opinion Poll. The latter was tapped for speed off the home turn as the pace quickened but stayed on in gallant fashion up the straight to get right back in contention - he managed to nose to the front for a stride or two - and it was only close home that he had to give best to the youngster. The two will surely cross swords again in all the best staying races for the rest of the campaign. Saddler's Rock and Gulf of Naples both ran smashing races with the latter producing a career best having led from an early stage. He stuck to his task manfully and is a stayer on the upgrade. Saddler's Rock pulled hard early on off the very modest pace so to be right in their pitching on the heels of the front two at the line speaks volumes for his ability. He also has time on his side and should add to his tally in the Cup events. The charismatic Askar Tau was held up in the early stages and made progress of sorts up the straight but was never really a threat while Nehaam's stamina blatantly ran out approaching the distance having been the first to commit from the home turn. Last year's winner Fame And Glory was sent off at odds-on for a repeat but could not land anything near a telling blow. He settled well early on under Jamie Spencer up the inside rail but found disappointingly little when push came to shove three furlongs out. He started to hang as well but was reported to be fine afterwards - a puzzling effort all in all. Bridge Of Gold never got out of the rear division while Caucus ruined his chance by pulling fiercely in the early stages on the outer and was a spent force where it mattered.
