A relatively straightforward success for OSCAR WHISKY which didn't really tell us anything new about Nicky Henderson's charge and the trainer admitted that he may still be in the dark ahead regarding his best trip ahead of March with the winner due to head to Ffos Las for the Welsh Champion Hurdle next. He had taken quite a heavy fall at Ascot on his reappearance when looking as though he would need the run but showed no ill effects from that fall and will have benefited from being made to work for his win by the runner-up who was in receipt of 8lbs. While Get Me Out Of Here has proved increasingly in and out since finishing second in the Supreme, he's still capable of very smart form on his day and this was a decent enough performance by the winner. He didn't, however, look as though he was crying out for a drop back to the minimum and is surely bound for the World Hurdle at the Festival unless connections opt to skip that and wait for the two and a half mile hurdle at Aintree although they could, of course, take in both. Where Get Me Out Of Here goes next is less straightforward as is whether he will run up to his best; he's had a few problems and was hanging left on the climb to the line, looking a difficult ride. However, he shouldn't go up for this and is only 3lbs higher than when beaten a nose in the County Hurdle and the yard have a very promising conditional in the stable who has already proved adept at riding quirky individuals. Cockney Trucker often runs his best race of the season in that Festival handicap and it would be no surprise to see him vying for more place money but he still has just the one win to his name over timber. Connections have the option of trying chasing again but he didn't look a natural when last tried at the game. Any Given Day is a pretty tough and consistent individual but was below par here; it would be no surprise to see him try and go one better back over course and distance on New Year's Day than he did 12 months ago when seven lengths behind Oscar Whisky. The Knoxs was down in trip and up in class on ground that was probably too fast and can be given another chance granted more suitable conditions.
