Verdict

DADDY LONG LEGS was part of a 1-2-3 for Aidan O'Brien in the opening contest on the card. Fourth in the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster - he was asked to make the running on this occasion and he gamely stuck his neck out having seen off the earlier challenge of Farhaan. John Dunlop's inmate was travelling as well as anything at halfway but he found disappointingly little when ridden to challenge with two furlongs to travel and did not appear to be enjoying matters (flashed tail). Tenth Star needed a fair amount of stoking up in order to get going. He ran on to be second at a respectful distance. Wrote was tried under extreme hold up tactics though these did not seem to work as the winner had already flown by the time he found his stride. Rockinante ran very freely and had no more to give as the winner went away. Shamrocked was outclassed. The winner is now a general 25-1 chance with the bookmakers for the 2,000 Guineas.
