The last two winners of this maiden have gone on to win at Group Three level and connections of JUNGLE BEAT will be hopeful that he can at least follow suit with some bookmakers quoting him in the ante-post market for the Derby following this debut success. He's certainly bred for the part being the first foal of a lightly raced but well bred dam by Galileo. The market suggested a big run was expected and he didn't disappoint. He jumped quickly and settled well just behind a steady gallop and was the last to come off the bridle; it took a while for him to understand what was required but he eventually stretched nicely clear and can be expected to improve considerably for this experience if going the right way. The bare form isn't anything out of the ordinary but he did it easily and it'll be interesting to see where he turns up next. He was chased home by Farhaan who received a nice introductory ride from Richard Hills and should be able to show the benefit of that next time. He's a half-brother to the useful winning juvenile Wid and by first season sire and Belmont Stakes winner Jazil; a Derby entry suggests that he's expected to stay further than his sibling next season and this was a pleasing start to his career. Gold Sceptre, unusually for one from his stable, was extremely green at Salisbury but left that form behind with a solid effort and may come into his own once handicapping over further. Similar comments apply to Opera Buff who also improved from his debut at Salisbury, benefiting from this step up in trip. Rugged Cross showed ability, staying on pleasingly in the final quarter of a mile having been one of the first to come under pressure and he shouldn't be long in winning. Vergrigio stepped up on his debut and is another that can come into his own once handicapping.
