This maiden has been won by Native Khan (Pisco Sour behind), Elusive Pimpernel and Rio De La Plata in recent years and Net Whizz was all the rage to make a winning debut in a field where only two runners had had a run. Jeremey Noseda's colt looked rather green and was ultimately well beaten but the run was not devoid of promise. The same stable's Talwar left his debut form behind second time out to win impressively and connections will be hoping this fellow can follow suit. He's bred for middle distances next season and is by Montjeu and hopes will undoubtedly be high that he can continue the good record of winners of this race with paddock watchers reporting the field to be an impressive bunch. He travelled well in behind the pace and ran on strongly in the final two furlongs with the field spread out across the track and gave the impression that he'd improve for the experience as he appeared to idle before finding more when the field closed. Richard Hannon junior has hopes that he might develop into a Racing Post Trophy contender. Sports Section took a little time to understand what was required of him but picked up pleasingly. This experience shouldn't be lost on this half-brother to the connections' Ancient World and he looks to have a future. Mickdaam's sales price rose to 360,000 gns as a yearling from 72,000 gns as a foal. He was just about last with four furlongs to run but was another to stay on powerfully despite looking in need of the experience and an average maiden should be a formality and connections will no doubt be keen to see him compete at a higher level this season. Right Regal had the benefit of a run and a rail to help in the closing stages; he travelled well and showed pace but didn't see this trip out as well as some of his rivals. Luca Cumani doesn't get many first time up winners with his juveniles so the performance of Strada Facendo - who was another to finish strongly - was noteworthy. Being by Street Cry, it's debateable how much further he may get in time but this was certainly an encouraging start to his career. Almuftarris, Fiscal (who had had a run) and Menelik were others to finish off their race well and show promise whilst Balty Boys showed up well for a long way from the front before tiring and may have needed this. Police Force, a half-brother to Dream Ahead, was ultimately well beaten but wasn't too far away with two furlongs to run. He raced alone for much of the final three furlongs on the far side of the track with the action taking place down the middle to near side and was more or less allowed to come home in his own time once he'd run his race. He can be given the chance to build on this.
