Verdict

All the money before the race was for Green Destiny, however he couldn't pick up from the rear of the field as well as BEACHFIRE who scythed through his rivals for a rather exciting success. His record suggests that he might not repeat the run, but he certainly seemed to enjoy getting his toe in and the challenge of having all of his rivals ahead of him turning in. Jockey William Buick, riding his second winner of the day, took the brave route, and he enjoyed a truly perfect run through as the gaps opened ahead of him like Moses and the Red Sea. He'll go up plenty in the weights for this run, as it looked stylish, but whether the form will work out to be so impressive is open to question. Runner-up Lost In The Moment made a sweeping move into the lead off the home turn and he nicked a couple of lengths on his rivals, however he had no answer when the winner burst past him. However he had enough left in the tank to fend off the rest and this was a good run, building on his Chester second when last seen. Third home was Waydownsouth who came with a nice looking run two furlongs from home. He loomed up going well but couldn't find the acceleration of the winner and ultimately was quite well-held in third. Fourth home was Right Step who is a very consistent horse but perhaps not the best handicapped, and he was some way behind the third, whilst Bea Remembered ran well in fifth, stepping up on her Doncaster win against her own sex last time. Circumvent made the running and although he was beaten off once the race hotted up, he still ran all the way to the line and deserves credit. Balducci and World Heritage, both dropped away having raced prominently, suggesting that they went a good gallop. Resurge is probably high enough in the weights now and seems to excel at Epsom anyway. Green Destiny tried to weave between runners like the winner, but he had come under pressure a little earlier and his response wasn't as immediate. He made it into about fifth place but couldn't improve on that and eventually filled seventh position. He didn't seem quite the same horse as when last seen, and his rise in the weights may have found him out, but one wouldn't be quick to write him off.
