Verdict

The stands' side had the call once again and it was Walter Swinburn's JULIENAS who came out on top to record a fairly comfortable success. Eddie Ahern had his mount poised to challenge in a good position with three furlongs to run and it was just a case of sitting tight until a suitable gap emerged. That came along as early pacesetter Bronze Prince rolled off the rail and the duo were through and into the front rank. Julienas responded well to pressure from the two furlong marker and kept on strongly all the way to the line. A critical moment in the race came a furlong out as Dance And Dance emerged from the pack with a very strong bid and tried to squeeze between the eventual winner and the rail. That gap closed and Ryan Moore was forced to switch around his rival - leading to a stewards' enquiry and Moore's claim that it lost him the race. Ahern did pick up a two-day ban but the result was rightly allowed to stand. Pendragon roared home from just off the pace for third and although he is not getting any younger, could be of interest if tried over further while last year's winner Invisible Man ran a fine race again off a ten pound higher rating. Eton Forever remains lightly race and should have more to offer judged by this while topweight Fareer moved sweetly into contention in first-time blinkers but then found the weight concession just too much and should be able to win in Listed company. A quartet of runners stuck to the unfavoured far side but were fighting a losing battle in the closing stages. Soohrah led them home by some distance and deserves some credit but he was still beaten 75 yards by the winner down the nearside so clearly had an impossible task due to the draw. Start Right had run an eyecatching trial last time at Epsom and kept on well for pressure inside the final two furlongs - he looks capable of landing a big handicap pot in due course. Capital Attraction does not have many miles on the clock and was swinging away on the bridle three out in first-time blinkers. His effort petered out inside the distance and he could be interesting at a big price for something like the Bunbury Cup if his trainer can find the key to him
