Jim Bolger's BANIMPIRE is as tough as her trainer and she made it five wins for the season with a battling performance. Despite seemingly not handling the ground too well, the Holy Roman Emperor filly managed to claw back the front-running Field Of Miracles in the final 100 yards to land a gritty success. She was involved in some scrimmaging in the early stages but her professionalism showed there as she settled down and got on with the race, and pushed closer to the pace on the turn for home, she always looked as if she would peg back the leader. However there wasn't much in it at the line as Richard Hughes managed to conjure a renewed effort from Field Of Miracles once she had been passed. In another 10 strides she may have snatched back the prize, however it wasn't to be. She deserves loads of credit, as her jockey does, because he took his horse around the outside before halfway to set the pace and his naturally exuberant partner quickened nicely off the final bend to have most of her rivals in deep trouble. Third home was Dorcas Lane who looked as if she might get involved in the finish with two furlongs to run but her effort was just a tad one-paced where it mattered; she seemed to get the longer trip well enough although connections wouldn't worry about dropping her back in trip again, perhaps for something like the Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh. She was well clear of Look At Me who ran ok without ever threatening to really play a hand, whilst Zain Al Boldan followed her home. She seemed to be outpaced in the early part of the race and seemed to hate the ground. She therefore got too far behind to feature properly, but did stay on quite nicely late in the day. Rumh was next, not given a hard time once her chance had gone, whilst they came home at intervals after that. Arizona Jewel wasn't helped by going wide throughout, whilst Highest disappointed back up in trip but she didn't seem to relish the ground.
