Verdict

Zacinto was rated 4lbs clear of the field but during 2010 had rarely threatened to run up to the form of his Queen Elizabeth Stakes II to Rip Van Winkle in 2009. His best run of last season came when fourth over course and distance in the Queen Anne Stakes but he found disappointingly little for pressure on this reappearance and has plenty of questions to answer. The heavily backed SIDE GLANCE had progressed well in 2010 and had had only two previous starts over a mile. He failed to land a blow in a seven furlong Listed race at Leicester on his reappearance but had clearly come on a bundle for that run and is most progressive. Andrew Balding believes that he may stay further and was considering options in Canada and Germany as well as the Diomed Stakes and the Summer Mile. He has yet to win a bad race and is a very likeable and versatile individual. St Moritz had a similar profile to the winner last season and had shown career best form in two starts for a new yard this season, winning over ten furlongs and a mile and proving tactically versatile; he ran his race once again and had the rest well beaten off. Critical Moment is already a winner at this level and stayed on again having become outpaced; he may be able to improve on this return and could be worth another try over a longer trip. Eton Forever ran out an impressive winner of the Spring Mile but was found wanting on this step up in class; the ground may well have been lively enough for him, he's only lightly raced and is worth another chance at this level. City Leader was the second highest rated horse in the field but had been off the track for 535 days having been beaten under three lengths in the Champion Stakes and an Italian Group One. This was a hugely encouraging return to action for the entire over an inadequate trip and it will be interesting to see if he can build on this.
