Verdict

Richard Hannon has dominated this conditions stakes recently with five winners over the last seven years but had to settle for second on this occasion. Monsieur Chevalier and Art Connoisseur have won this race in recent years and Tell Dad is probably the horse to take out of this race as the likeliest to have the potential to try and match their achievements. JACK WHO'S HE made every yard on debut at Leicester and was conceding 7lbs to the runner-up so deserves plenty of credit for the way he responded to pressure but the second looked to have his measure before wandering around close home. Tell Dad was slowly into stride but quickly ridden up between the winner and The Dancing Lord to contest the pace; he travelled very strongly and just about got his head inside the final furlong but wandered off a true line and was just run out of things by his more experienced rival. Chillie Billie is well-regarded by his yard and made an encouraging start to his career; he was caught flat-footed when the pace quickened but responded well to stay on into third under a kind ride and should be able to show the benefit of that in an average maiden. Sabusa reversed last month's form with The Dancing Lord and also showed enough to think that he can pick up a small race.
