Verdict

A taking performance from UNACCOMPANIED, although on first impression the race doesn't look that strong. Mind you, the way that this strapping four-year-old filly cantered into contention before the last flight, and then ran on well to the line, her performance reeks of class. She wasn't 100% fluent at all of her hurdles but she jumped fairly well in the main and has pushed her nose firmly into the JCB Triumph Hurdle picture, although fillies haven't fared too well in the contest since Mysilv and Snow Drop in the 90's. As with a few races at the track, the field bunched up just before the turn for home. Indian Daudaie tried to make a move around the outside when the sprint began but he was fairly well held, although he helps give the form a bit of substance after his previous Cheltenham run. Sailors Warn did best of those coming from a little further back, and he looked a danger briefly approaching the last. However he couldn't close the gap on the winner, but this previous winner ran a very solid race. Fearless Falcon took third after making most of the running, and this tough individual gives another angle to the form. He had previously chased home the second horse at Punchestown, and although he wouldn't have reversed the placing with a better jump at the second last, the mistake certainly didn't help his chance. Further back Chaperoned ran well in fourth, and he should have no problem shedding his maiden tag, whilst Louisville Lip disappointed in last. He was far too keen but it still goes down as a very disappointing performance.
