This appeared to be a penalty kick for GRANDOUET despite having to concede weight all round. Nicky Henderson's French import has looked a vastly improved performer since settling better having been re-fitted with the earplugs that he wore in France. He comfortably drew away from the field to score as he liked having travelled and jumped well and only needed to be pushed out under hands and heels; he was promoted to favouritism for the Triumph Hurdle on the back of this success. He is set to run in the Adonis Hurdle at Kempton next month before heading to Cheltenham. Two Kisses was given a positive ride by Tony McCoy who got a breather into the filly after the third from home, before kicking again rounding the turn into the home straight. This move put all bar the favourite of a leading group that had bunched up under pressure and she kept on well to finish a clear second having been headed going into the last. Looks Like Slim kept on well to finish third, just in front of L'Eminence Grise who had raced close to the pace throughout; the latter had been beaten 24 lengths behind the winner on his previous start and should make his mark in handicaps, possibly over further. Magic Prospect travelled well for a long way and was still there jumping the second last before folding; he showed fairly useful form on the level and showed definite promise. Plenty Pocket pulled far too strongly through the early stages of the race and was also scrappy at a couple of the early flights; he did make ground halfway through the contest before his early exertions told and can improve for this initial experience.
